Bembooka Ski Club Hotham Biathlon Training Camps

From the 28 June to 11 July EGBC athletes participated in two weeks of on snow Biathlon and X C skiing training and coaching at Hotham. Participants enjoyed amazing early season snow conditions, the chance to do lots of technique and acclimatisation to snow and the high 1650m altitude training and enjoyed staying in Bembooka’s spacious, athlete friendly lodge environment.

A huge thanks to Bembooka Ski Club for their support of the camps which enabled athletes to stay high on Hotham right on the X C ski trail. With Bembooka’s excellent location daily sessions started either out the front of Bembooka or at Biathlon. This is the third year in a row that EGBC has delivered a residential June / July holiday camp out of Bembooka and it was by far the best snow conditons allowing for daily skiing and shooting at Biathlon.

Bembooka Ski Club is the only on mountain lodge with a gun safe for the correct, legal storage of participants biathlon rifles. They also have a waxing room which enabled coaches to deliver waxing education.

Bembooka has been instrumental in providing support to our high performance athletes in Darcie Morton and Rosie Franzke to the form of accommodation with them for this camp over the last two years which is really appreciated. Darcie is now training in Lillehammer, Norway, with Team Intersport while Rosie is completing Year 12 while contesting the National Championships in both Biathlon and X C skiing.
