EGBC athletes Phoenix Sparke and Damika Morton represented Australia in the 2025 Summer IBU Development camp in Lillehammer, Norway, from the 29 June to 5 July. The small Australian contingent of 4 athletes was led by EGBC head Coach Damon Morton, who returned to Australia following the program to coach EGBC athletes at Hotham at the July 19 – 20 National Championship and also supported BA as chief of the stadium.
The amazing surroundings of Lillehammer, Norway, played host to this year’s IBU-IOC and IBU-IPC Summer Camp bringing together 52 athletes from 18 National Federations. In a unique spirit of inclusion and collaboration, the camp united first time Biathlon and Para Biathlon athletes and coaches for a week of training, learning, and community building.
For many young athletes, this camp has been important milestone in their biathlon journey and chance to exchange knowledge, improve their skills, and form friendships across borders.
Throughout the week, the athletes trained side by side, supported by an experienced team of IBU Instructors: Knut Kuvas Brevik (NOR), Håvard Bogetveit (NOR), Kristina Dale-Skjevdal (NOR), Anders Øverby (NOR), and Andrine Overland (NOR).
The program focused not only on physical preparation, but also on mental skills, shooting techniques, and biathlon-specific education.
A highlight of the week was the team relay where Aus placed 2nd behind the Czech Republic.
