The East Gippsland Biathlon Club (EGBC), in partnership with Sport and Recreation Victoria, is pleased to announce the Biathlon 4 All Abilities Project (B4AA) which EGBC will look to deliver at Mt Hotham this season towards building capacity of the club, ‘All abilities’ and members.
The innovative project aims to support participants of ‘All Abilities’ to engage in EGBC club and pathway programs. The timing of the project is fortuitous with EGBC aspiring to work with stakeholders including Biathlon Australia to support both the National Para team and para development team / athletes at programs to be held at Hotham in August.
EGBC is pleased to announce the appointment of Matthew Brumby, Australia’s IBU World Cup Para athlete and LW 10 sit skier, to the role of EGBC Para Project Officer. Matthew will act as the B4AA project’s ambassador and will work to help attract and engage para-athletes to the program and seek and provide feedback to improve the program’s reach and delivery.
All abilities includes, however is not limited to, the following areas: Physical disabilities, amputees from single arm or leg to double limb amputees, blind skiers and mental health. The project also aims to increase the capacity of the club and it’s members while increasing awareness of ‘all abilities’ and connecting with community through sport.
EGBC is pleased to announce World class Biathlon Coach Damon Morton to the position of Head Club and Project Coach for 2025/26. As a past World Championship representative Damon has extensive experience coaching at IBU World Cup, IBU Cup and World Championships and Youth Olympics for Australia. Damon graduated this Friday 6 June from the 2024/25 IBU Academy Level 2 Coaching Course in Rupholding, Germany; see picture. Damon will head an experienced team of coaches / carers.
Through Biathlon 4 All Abilities EGBC is seeking to provide both on snow coaching and training programs and coaching by distance to all levels and abilities of athletes / members. Pathway EGBC Hotham Biathlon team athletes are able to access professional coaching support such as an annual training plan and weekly programs to support them in their pursuit of being the best athlete, cross country skier and biathlete. EGBC coaches endeavour to provide individualised support to members seeking to pursue training and racing. Weekly or fortnightly coaching conferences with team athletes provides individual training advice, including technique advice periodised strength and conditioning programs.
